This Fall, the AGU International Team represented our University at the 28th Annual EAIE Conference. This year, the event was organized in Liverpool (UK), the hometown of the world-famous Beatles group!
One year after our first participation in EAIE, the situation is very different for AGU, as the University has built over 40 international partnerships and many connections worlwide.
The “Fab Four” – and one member in particular – were also the inspiration for this year’s Conference theme “Imagine…”, which put transnational higher education, global citizenship, as well as Freedom, Equality and Peace at the forefront of the event.
The Conference offered its over 5200 participants (coming from 80 different countries) a multitude of workshops, sessions and plenaries to attend, with a special focus this year on the ever-growing refugee crisis and discussing opportunities for university admission, diploma recognition and integration and empowerment of refugees. The event was the opportunity for attendees to meet, collaborate on educational projects, work on the improvement of Higher Education and discuss new trends.
The AGU International team starting its conference week with the attendance of the QS Ranking 2016 Launch event, where they were able to jot down the information and conditions to integrate the most famous university ranking system in the world, as well as connect with universities already present in the rankings.
The rest of the week was divided between a number of sessions and meetings with fellow institutions. During this time, the AGU International Office met especially with a high number of potential partner institutions from 20 countries* to discuss collaboration opportunities including student/staff exchange and/or research projects.
The EAIE Conference week was also the opportunity to meet with more and more of our existing partners and to evaluate the progress of the cooperation process.
After a successful and very busy week, we look forward to developing new partnerships and signing new agreements with the institutions met during the event!
