AGU Grows Reputation among Top Pakistani Students

This April, the Abdullah Gül University participated in the 11th Edition of the Tri-Star Education Turkey fairs in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. This time, the University was represented by Head of the International Office, Emeric Abrignani, and Advisor to the Rector on International Affairs, Assis. Prof. Dr. E. Burak Arıkan.

During these 6-hour fairs in the three Pakistani cities, the top ten most internationally active Turkish universities gathered to meet Pakistani students and their families and present their institutions, programs and services.

For this edition of the fair, which marked AGU’s third time in Pakistan, the participants consisted mainly in Graduate students, who were very interested in the University’s MSc and PhD programs in Engineering. They were also quite impressed by our high graduate entry requirements:

  • GRE: a minimum of 155 points for the “Quantitative Reasoning” section

OR

  • GAT-General: a minimum 65% for GAT-Accumulative and 28% for GAT-Quantitative Reasoning section

These requirements are equivalent to those of the best engineering schools in the World and mark AGU as a top quality higher education institution.

The students were also interested to learn about the University’s Scholarships system, which is project-based at AGU for Graduates: because of the low student/professor ratios at AGU (3:1 at the Master level, 1:1 at the PhD level) students have great chances to work on paid research projects with their AGU professors.

The Abdullah Gül University has undeniably established a reputation in Pakistan as a very different university, offering a mix of top quality education and services, at a very affordable price. Students start coming to the fair specifically to meet AGU, as they have heard about the University from their high school counselors, friends, families, or even current Pakistani AGU students (some had already read Fuad’s and Hina’s testimonials before coming to the fair).

The AGU International team also had the pleasure of meeting the attaché of the Turkish Consulate, as of visiting of the Directors of the Pakistan Higher Education Council, in order to discuss future collaborations.

They were also glad to receive the visit and get a chance to catch up with Cedar College representatives, whom Emeric had met with last November, when he visited their institution.

Overall, the fair was productive; AGU is now very visible and attracting the interest of many high quality Pakistani students. We have already received more applications from this country than last year at the same time.

Once again, the AGU International Office enjoyed the Pakistani people, weather and food and look forward to welcoming more Pakistani students on campus next semester and of going back there again soon!
