AGU Meets Egyptian Prospect Students

Recently, the Abdullah Gül University participated for the first time in a student recruitment fair in Egypt. The fair was well organized and took place at a pleasant venue in welcoming country and culture.

The fair brought together universities from Malaysia, the USA, the UK and Turkey (including Sabancı University, METU Northern Cyprus Campus, Istanbul Bilgi University and Bahçeşehir University).

Overall, the students who joined the fair had a good academic level; many of them had taken the Thanaweya a`Amma, the Egyptian General Secondary Education Certificate and achieved our minimum requirement of 75%.  Some were instead studying in a school following the American system and preparing the SAT (hoping to obtain our minimum requirement of 1100 out of 1600 for the “Math” and “Evidence-based Reading and Writing” sections, as well as of 660 out of 800 for the “Math” part alone) or the A/AS-Levels.

All students who visited the AGU fair stand were very interested in joining the University. Although they had never heard of AGU before, they could easily tell that the University’s model is different in the way it provides top quality education, services and infrastructure at a very affordable price.

As Egyptian students are increasingly interested in discovering the world and studying abroad, Turkey is becoming more and more popular among these young people as a study and work destination.

Many of the fair participants were accompanied by their parents, who are very involved in their children’s higher education and asked many questions about the University, its city, Kayseri, as well as Turkey.

Education professionals and agents were also interested in learning more about AGU and in offering their services to represent the University.

The AGU International Office representatives are very satisfied with the outcome of this fair and following the event we have noticed an increase in the online traffic on AGU’s website originating from Egyptian internet users. The number of Egyptian applicants has also increased since.

AGU is now very present and recognized in Egypt; we are looking forward to coming back and are expecting to see the number of our Egyptian students on campus increase rapidly.
