AGU Delegation visits Malaysia and Singapore

Prof. Dr. Ihsan Sabuncuoğlu, Rector of the Abdullah Gül University (AGU), conducted an official working visit to Singapore and Malaysia in the beginning of March.

He was accompanied by Assis. Prof. Dr. Evren Mutlugün, of the AGU Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, as well as by Assis. Prof. Dr. E. Burak Arıkan, Advisor to the Rector on Internationalization.

During their stay, the AGU Delegation visited the campuses of the two countries’ top higher education institutions as well as their research labs and met with their respective rectorates in order to discuss collaboration opportunities and to exchange good practices in research and education;  with a strong focus on AGU’s key mission as a Third Generation University: Societal Impact.

Prof. Dr. Sabuncuoğlu and his delegation began their trip in Malaysia, where they met with four of the nation’s top universities: The National University of Malaysia (UKM), University of Malaya (UM) – with which the AGU Faculty of Architecture already signed a Memorandum of Understanding – the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) and the University of Technology Mara (UiTM).

During their time in Malaysia, the AGU Delegation also visited UKM’s Center for Collaborative Innovation and UM’s Center for Innovation and Commercialization.

After traveling to Singapore, they visited the campuses and met the representatives of the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Management University (SMU).

They were also introduced to the current research projects conducted at the NUS Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS), NUS Enterprise, DigiPen Singapore (SIT), as well as at the Lee Kuan Yew Center for Innovative Cities (SUTD), the SUTD-MIT International Design Center and the Lien Center for Social Innovation (SMU).

Following this fruitful visit, the Abdullah Gül University will be signing cooperation agreements with several of these institutions.
