Having already participated in the a2 International Education Fairs in Morocco this spring, our Head of the AGU International Office, Emeric, couldn’t wait to go back and renew the experience of seeing the enthusiasm of the Moroccan high school students and their families!
The four-day visit was organised in the form of a tour, taking the university exhibitors, like the Abdullah Gül University, to Casablanca, El Jadida and Marrakesh. Overall they came into contact with over 5270 future students during high school visits in the three cities, as well as additional education fairs in El Jadida and Casablanca; the latter having attracted over 2500 visitors.
The popularity of the AGU fair stand was overwhelming and our AGU representative explained the University’s concept to hundreds of 15-20 student groups of at a time. He also had the opportunity to present AGU to a large group of visitors at once during a plenary session where people gathered, specifically to hear about our University.
The majority of attendees where 11th and 12th grade students preparing their Baccalaureate exam and, although they could speak French with Emeric, also demonstrated a good level of English. Beyond the impressive academic level of these prospect candidates, once again the friendliness of the locals and their warm welcome made this stay all the more enjoyable.
The AGU International team has once again collected many contacts for next year’s admissions and since Emeric came back from Morocco, we have already received quite a few applications from students having visited the University’s stand and who are eager to be accepted to AGU for Fall 2016, adding to our already existing group of Moroccan students on campus.
The AGU International Office would like to thank all Moroccans for their kindness and interest during this trip and we are excited to see some of them again in Kayseri next September for our second International Orientation Programme.
